How to Install 5.00 M33-3 Custom Firmware on your PSP
We’re skipping the 5.00 M33-2 update and going straight to 5.00 M33-3. According to Dark Alex, here are the changes:
- A bug was introduced in 5.00 M33-2 that made some games and homebrew not to work
- PSN version check is now automatically bypassed without need of touching any setting
So basically, 5.00 M33-3 is better and less buggy. And now onto the very easy installation guide. Continue Reading
Save your game whenever you want with PSPStates
There comes a point in every game when you need to save it in an exact state where you want it to be and when you want it to be. For example you are playing this cool RPG game and you are in the middle of the desert map and you need to save your game because you badly need to go to the bathroom but you just can’t because there’s no near save point around the map you are in. What do you do? You switch your PSP into sleep mode and leave it on the couch. But is that really the best thing to do? Sometimes putting your PSP into sleep mode isn’t enough. You really want to know why? Read on. Continue Reading

The 1.50 kernel add-on brings out the full homebrew capability of your PSP. It lets you run lots of cool programs created by great hackers and programmers out there. PSP Custom Firmware 5.0 M33 released
Dark Alex has just released the latest of his custom firmwares, 5.0 M33. It’s really surprising that DA has done it in just a few days. This guy works very fast.
Below are notes about the custom firmware:
- Popsloader does not work (due to some changes on modules that sony did). UPDATE: There is a patch for this but it would require you to flash files which is dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. Will write a post on this later.
- 1.50k addon not yet supported but will be soon

Instructions on how to install 5.0 M33 custom firmware will follow soon. Meanwhile, relax at the new colors of the site.
PSP Official Firmware 5.00 is now available
I said on my previous post that Sony will be releasing the latest update next week but I was so wrong. Sony has just released the latest firmware for the PSP right right after I posted the previous post. It now includes a direct access to the Playstation Store. This major update includes a new theme redesign, a full-size on-screen keyboard and a sleep timer that you can enable during music playback.
The other good thing is Dark Alex has started working on hacking the 5.00 firmware. So what will it be? A custom firmware with a new name? Let’s hope he does it in no time so we could enjoy the new firmware with the capability of running homebrew programs.
Thanks to darwin v. for sending out the good news.
PSP Firmware 5 will be out soon!
Sorry guys. I haven’t posted here for quite a long time. Well, I’ve been very busy with my work, hanging out with my family and friends. I haven’t been playing and tinkering with my PSP for quite sometime after what happened to it. My PSP still actually works but the LCD is damaged again. I’m looking for a replacement for it but I can’t find any brand new Phat PSPs anymore. I guess I’ll have my Phat PSP repaired and I’ll just wait for the new PSP with built in microphone and new screen.
Anyway, I’m real excited on what Sony is about to release next week. It’s the new firmware 5.0 for the PSP. Below are the new features added on the firmware.
PSP Firmware 5.00:
- Direct PSN access. PSN stands for PlayStation Network. If you don’t have a PSN account yet, create one now. This is like the App Store on the iPhone/iPod Touch, IMO.
- Sleep timer option. A feature that should have been there long ago.
- Full screen keyboard.
- Redesigned XMB background.
How to Jailbreak iPod Touch 2.0 using WinPwn
Last Saturday, I’ve successfully performed a jailbreak on my iPod Touch 2.0.1. So I’m here to share and write about how I did it. First, let me talk about the new features on the new Firmware. The new firmware lets you install applications from the iTunes store to your iPod Touch. There are pretty much good free apps in iTunes so in my own opinion, I think it’s worth installing the latest firmware.
So how to do it? I’m not gonna rewrite the guide that I followed so I’m just gonna redirect you to it. But I’m here to give you some tips though, because some parts of the guide aren’t too clear. So let’s start.
You can follow the steps of this nice detailed guide. You must follow each step carefully. Here are some of the additional stuff that I did. They are numbered according to the guide/link I gave you.
On step number 9 from the guide titled 1st tab, Applications: The screenshot in this step is not updated. The latest WinPwn version has 3 checkboxes on the first tab, you must check them all, since you are on iPod Touch.
The rest of the steps are well clear enough for you guys to follow. If you are afraid that you might brick your iPod, don’t be. There have been no reports of bricked iPod yet.
To those having problems on how to get to DFU mode, here are the steps I did to have a successful DFU mode. You will need a speaker or headset for this one. And you must not be deaf.
- Connect your iPod Touch to a USB cable.
- Press and hold the home and power buttons until you hear the disconnect sound. When you hear the sound, release the power button and keep holding the home button.
- Do not release the home button yet until you hear another sound. That’s the time you release the home button.
- The screen on the iPod should be black. If you see a graphic on the iPod Touch telling you to connect to iTunes then you are on restore mode and not on DFU mode.
I hope the instructions are crystal clear for you guys. If you’ve got any questions or you need help, just leave your comment below.
What happened to my PSP?
A terrible thing just happened to my PlayStation Portable today. David, my 1 year old kid was playing with it and he accidentally urinated on it. I didn’t know he didn’t have his diapers on. My wife had his diaper removed because she was about to change it. The thing just happened in an instant. I don’t know if my PSP will still work. It got wet inside and over the LCD, which I had replaced just a couple of weeks ago. So what I did was open the unit and wipe the pee all out. I’m gonna wait for it to dry.
So what’s gonna happen to Stylemo now? What am I gonna write here without my PSP? Don’t ya worry about it guys, I’m not gonna bring this site down. I’m still gonna write PSP hacking and instructional guides and stuff. I’m gonna go get me a new PSP. Maybe I’ll go for the PSP Slim. But if I manage to find a PSP-1000 on stores, then better. But until then, maybe I’ll just borrow a PSP to experiment on so I could still update this website.
Space Invaders Extreme
Wow. It’s been a whole month since my last post. I’ve been really busy with my WordPress custom theme projects. I also have been busy working out my new personal website. Take a look here folks. My personal website runs on the amazing Una WordPress Theme, the very first free WP theme that I’ve released.
I really should invite writers for Stylemo. If you are a writer who loves the PSP, please contact me at fatfingur [at] gmail.com and send me your contributions. It could be anything about PSP. I’ll be waiting for your contributions guys. I may not give something in return but a lot of people will get to read your posts.
So what am I playing on the PSP right now? It’s not something new. In fact this game that I’ve been addicted to right now is really quite old. It’s called Space Invaders Extreme. It’s an enhanced version of the classic arcade game. There are tons of new features added, like faster enemies and BIGGER bosses. Believe me, the bosses are really big. I love the new added feature that is the weapon power-ups. You can actually upgrade your weapon by picking up power-ups. The game really runs smooth graphics and great music. I really recommend this game to all ye gamers out there.
Below are screenshots I’ve captured from the game.
