Eraserheads Back Together Again?

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Is it true that Eraserheads will be playing again? My friend, co-worker and colleague tipped me something unbelievable while I’m busy pretending to look busy at work. She just saw on the Saguijo calendar that Eraserheads will be playing on Play4serve at Saguijo on July 26. Of course my first reaction about this was I totally freaked out. I mean who wouldn’t? Eraserheads is the best band that ever happened in the whole entire rock history of the Philippines. The big mystery here is, will Ely Buendia sing for the fab four?

For those younger generation who haven’t heard about them yet, well now is your chance. Let’s all gather round at Saguijo on July 26. If the news is entirely true then we will all have another taste again of the pop rock that ruled the Philippine Rock scene years ago.

There were also rumors about RiverMaya breaking up but how do we know it’s true? They’ll be playing along with Eraserheads, Teeth and Parokya ni Edgar. This rock show is a must see. Maybe, just maybe this is just a one night reunion so let’s not miss this one.

Play4serve will be producing the event and I’m sure even though it’s a Thursday, Saguijo will be super crowded. I’m damn excited about the event. Guys, let me know your thoughts about this.

Coolmo

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Finally after weeks of lazy conceptualizing and surfing I’ve been able to come up with this brand new theme for my site. It’s called Coolmo. Funny name but it’s what I want to call it. I used the “cool” palette on Adobe Illustrator. You can find it on the color swatch dialogue box.

For the giant header, I used Adobe Illustrator again in composing that cool wallpaper you can download for free, but only if you want it. The sections on this new theme aren’t complete yet and I’m planning on completing this theme by next week. I’ll be adding sections like projects, themes, games, the obligatory about page and downloads.

Here are the future sections for this site:

Themes. I’ll be releasing WordPress themes later this year. Themes with cool colors and themes you haven’t seen yet. I’ll push my programming skills for that.

Downloads. Yeah I’d like to share and I’m gonna be putting some cool stuff here for web designers, gamers and you. I’m gonna share my Fireworks styles, some homemade wallpapers and some game saves for PSP games.

Portfolio. These will be the page where you will see all my chosen works. I’ll display all my projects here and talk about them when ‘ve got the time.

Games. This section will be the listing of all my games and how I’d rate them. I love to play but I need to sleep too. Gaming is fun and if only I can earn money thru it. I’d stick to web designing instead.

Well, those are the sections I will be adding so be sure to return if you have time and learn something. By the way here are the Wordpress plugins I’ve used for this theme. I’ve researched on the web and so far these are the best ones I’ve managed to install with this theme.

  1. Feeder - it displays feeds on your page in html format. But I’m having problems working it with Tumblr feeds though.
  2. FlickrRSS - cool plugin that displays thumbnails of your latest Flickr Photos.
  3. Get Recent Comments - displays the latest comments from your visitors. What I love about this is that it’s so highly configurable
  4. Gravatar (and userpics) - This plugin allows you to generate a gravatar URL complete with rating, size, default, and border options.
  5. Reinvigorate - this is a very cool tracking plugin. Better than Google Analytics.
  6. WP Audioscrobbler - This displays the tracks I’ve been listening to for the past few minutes. Cool eh?

I’ve still have a few plugins left that I have to configure but I’ll complete this list once I complete the site. So far, what do you think on the new look? I’m open for suggestions so please leave your commentsafter this post. Thanks.

Graphika Manila Conference 2007

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Graphika Manila has just launched their new website today. Yeah, it’s still built with flash. I was hoping they’d switch to a more web standard website but well, it doesn’t matter. It still looks good anyway. It has a nice navigation, a beautiful simple layout but you can only access it if you have the flash plugin. Too bad for people with disabilities. The site should focus on web accessibility too. I really agree that the Filipino designer is one of the best there is but I’ve noticed that some of those good Filipino designers are still stuck with table-based websites. But then again, it’s never too late to learn and convert. It’s not that it’s a fad but the times have proven it that standard based websites work best. (more…)

Noobz just gave me a 1.5 PSP!

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

I’ve successfully downgraded by 2.80 PSP with a TA-082 motherboard to 1.50. how did i do it? Well I just followed Noobz’ instructions. It only took me less than 5 minutes to do it! Boy was it fast but watching it seemed like days.

At first I was afraid to do it because I was afraid of bricking it but I prayed hard and voila! PSP 1.5. I’m really happy to have my Portable Playstation downgraded. What’s my next step? I’m gonna install Dark Alex’s 3.03 OEb and after that I’ll be able top play ISOs and EBOOTs without UMDs. There are also tons of good apps out there!

Thanks Noobz for keeping the PSP flame alive!

Graphika Manila Multimedia Conference

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

On December 2, 2006 , a huge multimedia conference will be held at the SM Mall of Asia and I will make sure I will not miss this one! This will be the first time I will be seeing creative talents from the Philippines and from the USA together in one huge event. Yes, this is huge alright!

On top of the speakers’ list is Joshua Davis, one of my huge inspirations and idol in the world of flash and graphic design. I’ve seen Joshua Davis’ works on the web ever since I was a newbie in the world of web and graphic design, and that was still 5 years ago. For those newbie designers out there who doesn’t know him, you should check out his website. Malupit ang taong to! His works are very inspiring and like a fan of great rockstars, i bow unto him. He’s like the Joe Satriani of Design. And if you don’t know Joe Satriani, he is just one guitar god.

Graphika Manila

MK12 is next on the speakers’ list. They are a team of six based on Kansas City. These guys are really good, they’re gods, when it comes to motion design. But did I say that they’re also topnotch in graphic designs? Coca-Cola, Adidas, Diesel, Levi’s, Disney, ESPN, MTV, AXN, Cartoon Network - these are just some of MK12’s past clients. I’d bow unto them like I bow on Silverstein.Well that’s not the end of the list yet. The next speakers will be the topnotch graphic artists and designers from the Philippines. Hell yeah. Joyce and Rex Advincula, collectively known as Inksurge will also be there to give us some inspiring thoughts and lessons in designing. If you are a web designer from the Philippines and you don’t know this guy, well I think you’re just one newbie and you don’t know anything yet about the world of web design in the Philippines. Inksurge designed lots of stuff we see on print and TV. They designed the cover for Sandwich and made some stuff for MTV too. Inksurge’s Rex Advincula together with Drew Europeo, who will be there to speak for the Graphika Manila conference, were founders of one of the best design portals in the world, HalfProject. In addition to that, Drew Europeo together with Jose Illenberger was the founder of Philweavers, the most famous design community in the Philippines. Drew Europeo also brought to her BlackFlood, her team and a book on black and white graphic designs by top notch graphic artists from around the globe.

Nico Puertollano, a director and a designer who is currently working on Reality Pictures and teaching design on Phoenix One will also be there to share us some inspiring design tips and tricks.

Team Manila, well I guess most of you guys know these guys, is also part of the multimedia conference. Team Manila is a collective group of great designers who started the clothing revolution Graphic Designed Lifestyle, RePublic and Ang Pambansang T-Shirt. I’ve met these guys at the Murder By Design Conference last year.

Last but not the least, is Avid Liongoren. Who is he? If you don’t know him well you are way too old or a newbie in the design world. Avid is an illustrator, designer and a commercial and video director. Have you seen Cheese’s music video of their song Mottaka? Well this guy directed it. You can see a list of his works on his online folio.

So what are you waiting for guys? Login to graphikamanila.com and get your tickets now. Why get your tickets now? Well, because I think they’re cheaper if you avail of them now than you just go walk in there. Tickets online cost 950 PhP for the Conference pass and Student pass only costs 500 PhP. Tickets will be sold on the gate for 1200 Php. So if I were you, I’d get my tickets early.

Now don’t argue about the ticket price because I’m telling you, those speakers who are attending the conference have priceless works which means if you go in there, it’s just like seeing a very huge rock concert.
