How to Install 5.00 M33-3 Custom Firmware on your PSP
We’re skipping the 5.00 M33-2 update and going straight to 5.00 M33-3. According to Dark Alex, here are the changes:
- A bug was introduced in 5.00 M33-2 that made some games and homebrew not to work
- PSN version check is now automatically bypassed without need of touching any setting
So basically, 5.00 M33-3 is better and less buggy. And now onto the very easy installation guide.
The Requirements
- Your PSP installed with 5.00 M33-2 or 5.00 M33. Follow the 5.00 M33 here.
- USB cable
- Wifi – If you have wifi connection at home, you could do the update in one step. Just go the the Network Update on the Settings Menu and follow your instructions and your done.
The Guide
- Download the update package from any of the following mirrors:
Mirror1: http://rapidshare.com/files/156743814/500m33_3.rar
Mirror2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J2B220F8 - Extract the archived file to your computer.
- Connect the PSP to your computer and copy the UPDATE folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/
- Go to your XMB and run the update
- Follow on screen instructions and wait.
Although you could install this update directly from previous versions (3.71 M33 to 4.01 M33-2), I did write this guide for noobs.
Turn your back on dedicated hosting and pick a viable cheap vps.web host.

I’m intrigue & likewise excited by these updates, but is it really worth installing? my cfw 4.01 m33-2 on my slim works best and hasn’t give me any problems, plus, the ctf themes are cool! i dont know if ctf themes will work on this new cfw, perhaps a cxmb plug-in for this firmware will be introduce soon, guess i’m gonna wait a little longer, i cannot downgrade once i upgrade coz i don’t have the things needed for downgrading, but who knows? Dark Alex works in mysterious ways and he is fast, mucho FAST!!!
how do i install popsloader on 5.00 M33-3
@Redster: If you’re really curious of the new look and the new features, you might want to install this. I think Custom XMB Themes won’t work with this firmware.

Help me! I recently updated to 5.00 m33-3. My friend wants to share me his tekken dr via game sharing… i received the data but i can’t play it… anybody’s help would be much appreciated

Is there a way to get cutom firmware on it without using a pandoras battery, I tried putting 5.00m33-3 eboot and 500 pbp in update folder and get error 80020148 when I try running it
i have a psp slim with a ofw 3.95 and the cso and iso file wont work,also it cant install the cfw, what should i do? i dont hve any pandora battery and mms…please help…

I have been having troubles with my games.My gta games won’t start and some other games to.Do I need to use the fatsmod or is it a file problem.(When I was in 4.01 m33,my gta worked fine.
@mememe: Check your UMD emulation settings first. If that doesn’t work, you might need to install the fatmsmod patch.
@dipthroat: I think you need the fatmsmod patch.
@reaper: You need a Pandora battery if you want a custom firmware badly.
uuurk: there is no way you can get CFW without using pandora battery if you have official firmware, dont upgrade your psp with CFW or it will be brick, downgrade first then upgrade using pandora and MMS, instructions on how to make a pandora and mms are all over the web, just google it, it’s risky but if you’re willing, try it, just remember success doesn’t come the first time around.

Thanx,it turns out that the file had been corrupted because of my cousins computer.It had some kind of virus which infected some of my files.He only told me recently.

uuurk: just downgrade a step further, for example if you have an OFW ver 3.72, downgrade to CFW 3.71 then install the M33 updates.

Erm…I may be wrong but only some games have game sharing and I thought game sharing is only for playing multiplayer games and when the person who host the game ext the game,you cannot play it anymore.

thanks for your reply but, he sent me tekken: dr. It played the file but the3psp logo stayed and the psp shuts down. Still it won’t work… it would be a hassle if i would use ad-hoc file transfer to transfer the whole game.
