How to Upgrade to 3.71 M33-3

It’s been days since Dark Alex has released something for the PSP homebrew community but with his return he brings you the third update for his 3.71 M33 custom firmware. If you’re wondering what’s new on this update, well here they are exactly according to DAX:

  • Fixed a bug in access to flash by usb.
  • HEN core: kernel prx’s with syscall exports work again.
  • PSP Slim: programmers can set the size of user memory to 52 MB by using a sfo flag.
Check sample in sdk for usage.
  • March33 NO-UMD driver:
    * Fixed a bug that could hang the psp when exiting with home.
    * Fixed compatibility issue with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, and maybe more games.
  • Vshmenu: it wasn’t displaying properly with psp slim TV-OUT due to the change of resolution. Fixed.

Below are the easy steps on how to do the update on your PSP.

Requirements

Instructions

  1. Download the files here.
  2. Extract the contents of the file. Grab the UPDATE folder and copy it into your memory stick to the directory PSP/GAME/.
  3. On the XMB menu go to Games > Memory Stick and run the update. You will be asked to press X to start the update. Do so. The program will exit automatically and restart your PSP. You now have a PSP 3.71 M33-3 PSP

About the popsloader, I haven’t been able to try it yet. Actually I haven’t been using it for quite sometime. I really dig the new games around. But I’ll be glad to write something about it if a lot of people asked. Thank you all.

UPDATE: You can now skip this guide and go directly to the 3.71 M33-4 update. I wrote a guide on how to add the 1.50 Kernel Add-on for 3.71 M33. Please check it out if you need it.

@Hazardz and @carlitoes2007@yahoo.com: Install 3.52 M33-4 on your PSP first or if you have Pandora, use DArk Alex’s Despertar del Cementerio v6

@system info: Yes you can install CFW on that PSP. You didn’t have to give your Mac Address, just your version. Use pandora. That’s the best way to do it.

@ metalflame: That might be a hardware problem. Did your PSP got wet or something?

@mgm2000on@yahoo.com: Try updating it to a higher custom firmware. Follow this: http://www.stylemo.com/2008/07/03/how-to-install-custom-firmware-401-m33-2-on-your-psp/

Hi, I think this is a great forum. I have a question that hopefully someone may be able to answer. I have a PSP Slim running 3.71 M33-4. After I downgraded from version 4.05 (original), my themes no longer work and my wallpaper only stays for the current iteration, i.e., if I turn it off and back on the screen is black until I reset the original wallpaper. Whenever I try to apply a custom theme, I receive the “An internal error has occurred.(80108351). I’ve gone into the recovery menu, advanced, format flash 1 and reset device. It reset the device just fine, however the two problems still exist. All else appears to be fine. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    i found the answer..
if ur under 3.71, either if its OFW or CFW, u will encounter an error when u scan for network if there isn’t any network available..

when i plugged my router, it worked fine..
but when i unplugged it, an error appears saying..

    “internal error occured. (00000001)”

    sony forum says its normal..

    that’s it! hehehe

by the way, im on 3.71 M33-4..

i have an update, i cud send it to u if u want..

    PINOY ROCKS!
