How to Upgrade to 3.71 M33-2
Just a few days ago, Dark Alex released an update for 3.71 M33 custom firmware. The update fixed a few bugs. It also disables the VSH menu when on the onscreen keyboard. This update will let you toggle the on screen keyboard again. For the PSP Slim, a functionality to let the charge of battery when connecting a usb cable has been added. Let’s get it on with the guide.
Requirements:
- Fat or Slim PSP with 3.71 M33 custom firmware. If you don’t have a 3.71 M33 yet, here’s a guide for installing 3.71 M33.
- USB Cable
- Computer
- Make sure you have the kernel of GAME folder configured to 3.71. Shutdown your PSP then restart while pressing R then the recovery menu will appear. Go to Configuration>Game Folder Homebrew. Make it 3.71.
Instructions:
- Download the update here.
- Unzip the file anywhere on your computer. Connect your PSP to your computer then copy the contents of the UPDATE folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE
- Go to XMB menu and then go to GAME>Memory Stick then run the Update
- Wait for 5 seconds. Voila! You now have a 3.71 M33-2 PSP
After you have this installed, head on to the next guide on how to install update 3 for 3.71 M33. Let’s give thanks to Dark Alex for his hard work.
UPDATE: You can now skip this guide and go directly to the 3.71 M33-4 update. I wrote a guide on how to add the 1.50 Kernel Add-on for 3.71 M33. Please check it out if you need it.

Don’t flame me here, I’ve already read the previous posts, even tried Raj’s suggestions (changing file properties).
Another question… I see some people are doing just fine on 3.40-OE… Could i downgrade my Slim to that one?
Thx

You’re not alone, brother: My ISOs won’t even show up on the XMB of my Slim 3.71 M33-2…
Some CSOs do load, I even tried changing the ISOs to CSOs to no avail…
Could we possibly edit say, the header of the ISO files so they are recognized?
What could be the problem???
Could any 3.71 M33 Slim owner (whose PSP can load ISOs) specify all the settings in the recovery menu so I can copy those in mine?
Tried everything: formatting MS (original and fake) inside and outside the PSP, converting the ISO into a CSO, playing around with the recovery settings, all of that got me a hot brain (that one runs OK, by the way, but it’s a CSO).
Appreciate the support!

@Tombellpsp - the 1.50 eboot update isn’t included in this tutorial.

I’ve updated to 3.71m33-2. Do I still need to add the 1.50 eboot update or is it included in the 3.71m33-2 update. Sorry if I seem a dunce but the posts above seem to refer to 3.71m33 (original).

@sapiduta - The downloaded games I know of are the PSP game demos. You may check out my old post about game demos here. http://www.stylemo.com/2006/11/03/i-love-psp-game-demos/
