Hot Brain

Friday, July 13th, 2007

I’ve been very busy these days that I barely touch the PSP except when I’m listening to music and when I’m choosing tracks. Have you already heard about the new, ‘ahem’ , PSP? It’s not actually the PSP2 we were hearing about but it’s just a modification of the old PSP. They made it lighter, thinner and they removed the infrared port. Why the heck did SONY do that?

Anyway, I’ve got a new game called Hot Brain. It’s more than just a puzzle game. It’s a series of puzzles that makes your brain really hot, literally - well kinda. It’s got a nice and simple intro movie featuring the character Professor Warmer. The intro explains the theory about the temperature of the brain getting warmer when it’s working on a speedy series of Puzzles. The game is a creation of Midway, who also has other educational game titles on the Nintendo DS.

The game has five categories: Logic, Math, Memory, Language and Concentration. Each category has 3 different sub categories. You can either start by choosing the practice mode or you can go ahead and take the test right away. On the Practice mode, you can either try on of the 3 subcategories and master each. By taking the test, it will be a series of puzzles in 5 different categories. The questions are random so no set of questions are repeated, The results of the test are recorded on a daily basis and it provides a graph of your improvement. Hot Brain is really fun and educational. I suggest this game for all types of PSP gamers out there. And yeah, the game requires SONY’s 3.40 firmware. It works on the 3.40 OE though. This game is the reason why I’ve upgraded my 3.03 OE-C to 3.40 OE-A. Will there be 3.50 OE? Not without Dark Alex.

Here are some screenshots for you to enjoy.

Professor Warmer will get your brain warmed up!

At the end of every test, your brain temperature is shown. My brain was red hot after I took this shot.

This is an example logic question. Now do you know the answer? Hint: It’s square.

The graph above shows your daily improvements. I play this game once a day.

This is the main menu. And yeah there’s a multiplayer function where you can play with your PSP buddies.

Eraserheads Back Together Again?

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Is it true that Eraserheads will be playing again? My friend, co-worker and colleague tipped me something unbelievable while I’m busy pretending to look busy at work. She just saw on the Saguijo calendar that Eraserheads will be playing on Play4serve at Saguijo on July 26. Of course my first reaction about this was I totally freaked out. I mean who wouldn’t? Eraserheads is the best band that ever happened in the whole entire rock history of the Philippines. The big mystery here is, will Ely Buendia sing for the fab four?

For those younger generation who haven’t heard about them yet, well now is your chance. Let’s all gather round at Saguijo on July 26. If the news is entirely true then we will all have another taste again of the pop rock that ruled the Philippine Rock scene years ago.

There were also rumors about RiverMaya breaking up but how do we know it’s true? They’ll be playing along with Eraserheads, Teeth and Parokya ni Edgar. This rock show is a must see. Maybe, just maybe this is just a one night reunion so let’s not miss this one.

Play4serve will be producing the event and I’m sure even though it’s a Thursday, Saguijo will be super crowded. I’m damn excited about the event. Guys, let me know your thoughts about this.

Looking for Pownce Invites?

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

I just recently signed up with Pownce thanks to Avlack for giving me an invitation code.

What the heck is Pownce anyway?  It is a way to send messages, files, links, and events to your friends. It’s like Twitter but it’s bigger. You can create a network of the people you know and then you can share stuff with all of them, just a few of them, or even just one other person really fast and Kevin Rose is the mastermind.

Basically, Pownce is free but it runs on small advertisements that doesn’t hurt much or get in the way. There is an option to upgrade which enables you to send bigger files more than 100MB ,customize your themes and no ads. But there is a price though.

Pownce is still fresh so unfortunately it’s not yet open to the public for registration. You can only sign up with an invitation code. You can either submit your email to them on their website and wait forever or I can give you free invitation codes. So who wants an invite? I have 6 available invites and the first 6 commenters get it.

Nonstop Action on Transformers The Movie

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

I saw Transformers the Movie last night with my wife and it’s not bad after all. I mean it’s really good - the special effects that is. Michael Bay doesn’t suck after all. Last year, I posted an entry about the movie saying that it would really suck but I was wrong in the end. Maybe Michael Bay has learned already from his past mistakes on movies.

Transformers the movie kicks ass and it’s not as boring as SpiderMan 3 or Fantastic 4:Rise of the Silver Surfer. What I mean is I can’t help but worship special effects team on the wicked job they made. Those robots may seem to be very complicated but that is what’s cool about it. Before I didn’t really like the idea on Bumblebee being a Camaro but I guess it really worked out. The story was cool. Megatron wasn’t transforming into a gun but well, I guess the concept was still the same. It’s good versus evil. Maybe if they’d took the same image of those robots from the old cartoons it won’t be appropriate to the present times and that’s where Michael Bay hit the target. Cool. I’m not saying that I’m starting to love Michael Bay’s works. But I guess what I learned is I should reserve my judgment until I see the whole stuff. Well, there’s more than meets the eye.

Funny thing is, I drove my pregnant wife home and I told her to hold on to her seat because our car’s gonna transform into a robot. She told me I’m crazy. Heh.
