PSP Notepad is a big help

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

I’ve just installed Notepad for PSP on my PSP 2.80. I use Kriek eLoader for this one and it works like a charm. The only problem I have with it right now is how to exit. Pressing the home button which is written on the instructions doesn’t work. The only way to close it is to press the power for 15 seconds until it turns off. Well but it doesn’t matter as long as I can do my coding on this one. My problem is solved, I’ve got a notepad. My next problem is if it works on a USB keyboard. Can anybody tell me if a USB PC keyboard works on the PSP. If so, do I need an application to run it or is it plug and play? Well, I hope somebody out there can help me on this one but I better start searching on google about it myself.

The Notepad for PSP has a little dictionary with pre-installed words that is used for C Programming like do and while do. It also has line numbers which is really an awesome feature. It has copy, cut, select and more functions just like a normal notepad on the PC has. Well, if you’ve got a PSP with a 2.80 Firmware better install Kriek now so you could use Notepad for PSP.

The World of PlayStation Portable getting hotter everyday

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Last week was a very busy week for the PSP gaming world. I think it was just last week when noobz have finally developed a homebrew eloader for PSPs with 2.80 firmwares and it works on a TA-082 motherboard too. It has been on the works for the past few months and I’m really glad noobz has finally released it. It’s called Kriek, it takes advantage of the TIFF exploit on 2.80 PSPs which enables you to play homebrew games and applications. What are PSP homebrew by the way? PSP homebrews are well… Wikipedia can explain it to you much further.

PSP firmware version 3.00 has also been released last week via Network update but just after one day later, 3.01 was out. And yeah, noobz managed to decrypt 3.0 again. Sony’s really making it hard for the PSP owners out there. I’m glad I didn’t update to 3.00 or I won’t be playing SNES and Genesis games on PSP. Not to mention the amazing PSP revolution, a PSP version for the Dance Revolution. I’m also enjoying Bookr, it’s a text file and pdf reader for the PSP. Now I can read PDF’s and text files anywhere I want. My PSP is like a laptop now. All I need right now is a PSP text editor and I hope somebody out there tells me where I can find it.

Well, the finale is, PSOne games can be played on the PSP without needing a PS3 and a 3,00 firmware. I got this news from PSPFanBoy, a really good source for the latest PSP news. To those who don’t know, if you upgrade your firmware to 3.00, you can download PSOne games for the PSP but you need to purchase it and you need PS3 to do so. Well, that sucks. PS3 costs a lot and majority of the gamers don’t have $500 to buy such device. I could buy a laptop for $500 but I won’t waste it on a PS3. I’d rather get myself a Wii. Hell yeah, but I guess I’ll get it next year. Too many responsibilities are coming my way.

PSP 3.0 now ready for download

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Sony has just released the latest firmware for the PSP. I’ve just downloaded it on my PSP but I haven’t tried to upgrade yet since I can’t find any support or “readme” text about it on the net. I just discovered this one when I tried to go Network Updates on my PSP menu. I don’t know what the new firmware version have for us but I won’t upgrade yet.

There are rumors though that you can download and play homebrew games with this new firmware. But here’s the catch: You must purchase a PS3 in order to download homebrew on your PSP. Now can you dig it?

I’m back playing the best old school PlayStation game on my PSP

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

I recently just bought Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix for my PSP. It’s old school alright! Why old school? Because back on my PSOne playing years, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was the best game for me. I mean the repeat factor and the intense button smacking and hitting and not to mention the best experience on the gameplay. I know this game is not new, but when I first bought my PSP, I was really into this game. Too bad I don’t have enough money that time so I just bought Blade Dancer instead, which is one of the best RPG’s for the PSP. I’m not new to this game but I’m kinda getting my fingers and my mind set on this one. This game is fun and I’m on to unlocking a lot of levels and secret characters.

I still remember when I was playing the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on the PSOne, it was a lot of fun. My favorite skater back then was Rune Glifberg who has a very cool special move on the vert called “Christ Air”. I miss those days when I skip my subjects just to play the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game. It was really cool skating around while you are comfortably sitting on your sofa and your eyes just focused on the Tube. The best part of it was unlocking those videos and special characters like Spider-Man. Those were the best gaming days I ever have and I’m about to bring it back into my life again.

Graphika Manila Multimedia Conference

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

On December 2, 2006 , a huge multimedia conference will be held at the SM Mall of Asia and I will make sure I will not miss this one! This will be the first time I will be seeing creative talents from the Philippines and from the USA together in one huge event. Yes, this is huge alright!

On top of the speakers’ list is Joshua Davis, one of my huge inspirations and idol in the world of flash and graphic design. I’ve seen Joshua Davis’ works on the web ever since I was a newbie in the world of web and graphic design, and that was still 5 years ago. For those newbie designers out there who doesn’t know him, you should check out his website. Malupit ang taong to! His works are very inspiring and like a fan of great rockstars, i bow unto him. He’s like the Joe Satriani of Design. And if you don’t know Joe Satriani, he is just one guitar god.

Graphika Manila

MK12 is next on the speakers’ list. They are a team of six based on Kansas City. These guys are really good, they’re gods, when it comes to motion design. But did I say that they’re also topnotch in graphic designs? Coca-Cola, Adidas, Diesel, Levi’s, Disney, ESPN, MTV, AXN, Cartoon Network - these are just some of MK12’s past clients. I’d bow unto them like I bow on Silverstein.Well that’s not the end of the list yet. The next speakers will be the topnotch graphic artists and designers from the Philippines. Hell yeah. Joyce and Rex Advincula, collectively known as Inksurge will also be there to give us some inspiring thoughts and lessons in designing. If you are a web designer from the Philippines and you don’t know this guy, well I think you’re just one newbie and you don’t know anything yet about the world of web design in the Philippines. Inksurge designed lots of stuff we see on print and TV. They designed the cover for Sandwich and made some stuff for MTV too. Inksurge’s Rex Advincula together with Drew Europeo, who will be there to speak for the Graphika Manila conference, were founders of one of the best design portals in the world, HalfProject. In addition to that, Drew Europeo together with Jose Illenberger was the founder of Philweavers, the most famous design community in the Philippines. Drew Europeo also brought to her BlackFlood, her team and a book on black and white graphic designs by top notch graphic artists from around the globe.

Nico Puertollano, a director and a designer who is currently working on Reality Pictures and teaching design on Phoenix One will also be there to share us some inspiring design tips and tricks.

Team Manila, well I guess most of you guys know these guys, is also part of the multimedia conference. Team Manila is a collective group of great designers who started the clothing revolution Graphic Designed Lifestyle, RePublic and Ang Pambansang T-Shirt. I’ve met these guys at the Murder By Design Conference last year.

Last but not the least, is Avid Liongoren. Who is he? If you don’t know him well you are way too old or a newbie in the design world. Avid is an illustrator, designer and a commercial and video director. Have you seen Cheese’s music video of their song Mottaka? Well this guy directed it. You can see a list of his works on his online folio.

So what are you waiting for guys? Login to graphikamanila.com and get your tickets now. Why get your tickets now? Well, because I think they’re cheaper if you avail of them now than you just go walk in there. Tickets online cost 950 PhP for the Conference pass and Student pass only costs 500 PhP. Tickets will be sold on the gate for 1200 Php. So if I were you, I’d get my tickets early.

Now don’t argue about the ticket price because I’m telling you, those speakers who are attending the conference have priceless works which means if you go in there, it’s just like seeing a very huge rock concert.

Wii: The future of console gaming

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

I just saw this video about the Wii vs PS3 on google videos and it’s definitely funny. After seeing this one, I think I’d probably get a Wii later this year or early next year. Not that I don’t like the PlayStation but it really costs so much than I can afford. I mean if I were a brat and still living with my parents, I’d probably get it but my parents don’t support me anymore. I support myself and just found out that it’s really hard to come up with some cash.

Wii is cheaper than a Playstation 3 and that is a fact. Why would not I choose a Wii over a Playstation 3? Well first of all, the Wii brings in new experience with it’s wireless remote control. I don’t want to explain it but well, i took a couple of text from the Official Wii Site so you can read why Wii is a new experience:

To make gaming as accessible to people of all ages and all abilities, Nintendo wanted to create a controller that was as inviting as it was sophisticated. The outcome is the Wii Remote controller. Nintendo fused the familiarity of a remote control with the sophistication of motion-sensing technology to come up with an input device for the ages!

Sporting the size of a traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote controller is a multifunctional device that is limited only by the game designer’s imagination. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it serves as your steering wheel. For first-person shooters, the remote acts as your weapon that you point at an enemy. The list of potential uses goes on and on.

Got it? So now, what would you pick if you were given a choice between a PS3 and a Wii?

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Man was I so happy to find cool demos. So I downloaded the Loco Roco Halloween demo and tried it on my PSP. It worked like a charm! I didn’t play the whole game yet because PSP Fanboy’s got a lot of goodies so I downloaded them all. Aside from the Halloween demo of Loco Roco, I also downloaded other Loco Roco demo. yup, there are three downloadable Loco Roco game demos. Each setting are on a different stage and a different thrill. I didn’t Loco Rocos can turn into square. Yeah it’s puzzling all right.
